Yes and no. It will play, but it probably won’t do a whole lot. Subs that are rated for 1000W RMS or more are typically quite stiff to be able to handle that sort of power. It’s better to overpower a sub than underpower, underpowering a sub and clipping it is what kills the sub fastest.

The number associated with the speaker(s) “1200” is not the same thing as the number associated with the amp “1000”. The number associated with the amp is , (in theory) how much it can output. You can run a “1200w speaker” with a 10 watt amp.
