Is PhysX better on CPU or GPU?
With AA enabled, running physics on a GPU will generally be much faster than running physics on a CPU when AA is enabled. PhysX running on a dedicated GPU allows offloading the PhysX processing from the GPU used for standard graphics rendering, resulting in an optimal usage of processing capabilities in a system.
Should I dedicate my GPU to PhysX?
The general rule of thumb is to have a physX card which is 50% of the vram of the main display card. Of course the 8000/9000 series would bog the system down in physX intensive titles as a dedicated gpu. Current generation GPUs are sufficient to run modern PhysX titles without much hassle.
Does PhysX increase FPS?
No Physx does not increase frame rate. it decrease the frame rates instead as GPU has more data to process now. Anything above 60 or 75 frame rate depending on your LCD monitor is useless as monitor can’t display due to lower refresh rate. It only adds more realistic physx effect in games.
